VOLUNTEERING AT THE ENRICHMENT CENTER

Volunteers interested in providing support at the Enrichment Center must apply, schedule an interview and pass a criminal background check.

What we have to offer volunteers:

  • Training in specified volunteer interest areas.
  • Development of new skills in a Day Program Setting.
  • An awesome team dedicated to impacting the art world and how artists with disabilities are viewed.
  • Work training in artist skills.
  • Networking within the community.
  • New friendships and a supportive circle.
  • Afterhours access to studio space Mondays 3-7pm, we provide the space, bring your materials and enjoy working in a shared studio space.

Requirements for volunteers:

  • Must be at least 18-years-old.
  • Must be professional.
  • Complete 2 hours of orientation and training organized by the Program Director via online or in-person.
  • Complete 3.75 hour First Aid and CPR training.
  • Complete 1.5 hour Seizures and Seizure Specific First Aid Training.
  • Be consistent and reliable.
  • Be Passionate about visual arts, media, theater, music or any other form of art.
  • Be a team player and demonstrates great capability in working independently.
  • Energetic and positive.
  • Does not create drama or instigate negative behavior.
  • Reports to Program Director for assignments and plans.

Volunteer Interest Areas:

  • Project-Based
    • Art Archiving: Solely work in getting to know the EC Artists and support them in archiving their artwork by photographing art and assisting in typing data.
    • Community Outreach: Plan and coordinate activities to create and maintain a relationship between the EC Artists and our community. Raising awareness, reaches out to the community to create more accessibility and possible accommodations.
    • Event Coordination: Plan and coordinate events on the Program Schedule, i.e. artist receptions, sales events and birthday/holiday parties etc. Prep artists for upcoming events by keeping an updated calendar and reminding the artists of events going on in the community.
    • Gallery/Exhibiting Support: Work with the EC Artists to curate, prep and install exhibits in the EC Third Floor Gallery. Work with EC Artists submitting portfolios or answering a call for artists.
    • Marketing: Work with EC Artist Shopkeepers to promote, coordinate and prep for sales on-site, at fairs and events. Creating displays, packaging and printing. Keeping track of sales using EC Form.
    • Special Events: Plan and coordinate events dedicated towards inviting the community to visit for example “movie day at the EC,” where community members are welcome to join the EC Artists in watching a planned movie.
    • Studio Organization assisting artists and staff in keeping a tidy art studio, creating solutions for storing with accessibility and reorganizing as needed.
    • Be a guest performer in an EC Performing Arts Project or ask us about performing at the EC we invite other programs supporting individuals with special needs i.e. if you are in a band, dance group and other performing group.
    • Support the EC Artists participation in outings, go out for a walk with the Well Artists Workshop, led by the instructor. This a great time to socialize, walk for wellness and interact with the community for all.
    • Supporting EC Instructors in Art Studio or Workshops.
    • Support in the Performing Arts Instructors Studio or Workshops.

HOW TO APPLY

  • Send resume and cover letter to Program Director via e-mail at Director@ECArtists.com with subject line “Volunteer Candidate.” This is to get to know you, in your cover letter include interests area and what interested you in volunteering at the EC.
  • Program Director will respond with acceptance of application and send dates and times for an interview with questions to prep for the interview.
  • Upon acceptance of Volunteer Offer provide health screening and negative tuberculosis (tb) test result (The EC provides the specific health screening form that needs to be filled out by a doctor, paid/reimbursed by EC).
  • Upon accepting the Volunteer Offer, pass criminal background check (The EC provides the specific form that needs to be filled out by the volunteer, the EC and Background Check service, paid/reimbursed by EC)
  • If you have ANY misdemeanors, felonies, or convictions, other than minor traffic violations, you will NOT pass the background check and NOT be able to Volunteer at the EC, our license requires that all staff and volunteers pass the criminal background.
  • Complete General First Aid, Seizure First Aid and CPR certification paid for by the EC. Program Director provides training information with links.
